Regina Hillman is a law professor at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law where she teaches Legal Methods, Professional Responsibility, and Gender & the Law.  

Prior to teaching law full time, Regina was co-counsel in Tanco v. Haslam, the Tennessee marriage equality case that challenged the constitutionality of Tennessee’s constitutional and statutory bans on recognition of valid out-of-state same-sex marriages.  That case was combined with other Sixth Circuit marriage equality cases from Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky, and went up to the United States Supreme Court as Obergefell v. Hodges.  The Supreme Court’s favorable ruling on June 26, 2015, resulted in marriage equality nationwide.
