"Jonathan and Dwayne D. Beebe-Franqui met while stationed in Pensacola, Florida and now reside Memphis, Tennessee. Jonathan is a founding board member of the Military Freedom Coalition advocating for equal treatment of LGBT service members and has quickly become a fixture within the Tennessee Equality Project. The Beebe-Franqui’s are active members of the American Military Partners Association(AMPA) and Military Partners and Families Coalition(MPFC), both support groups for LGBT military families. The couple have two children, Brian and Courtney.

After becoming engaged at the 2012 San Diego Pride Parade Jonathan and Dwayne have since became one of the first legally wedded LGBT couples at midnight on January 1st, 2013. They are role models for marriage equality and LGBT service members.

In 2013, Jonathan organized several rallies in the wake of the US Supreme Court hearings and Dwayne organized the first military Pride observance at Naval Support Activity Midsouth in Millington, Tennessee, the first of its kind outside the Pentagon and led the efforts to organize the 1st military-wide LGBT Pride observance. The couple was profiled in a Department of Defense video released by the Pentagon highlighting a same-sex couple when spousal benefits were granted to LGBT service members in September 2013. On July 18th 2014, the couple was selected as San Diego Pride’s annual Spirit of Stonewall award recipients for Inspirational Couple. Breaking yet another barrier, in May 2014, Dwayne was selected for advancement to Master Chief Petty Officer, the highest rank attainable in the US military for non-commissioned officers."
