Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Kal Rocket came out as a sophomore in high school.
First attending college in Los Angeles, he moved back to the Mid-South because he missed the south. At nineteen he founded a group at MGLCC for college-age students who identified as LGBTQA, so that they would have a safe place to hang out on Friday nights. Being transgender in the Memphis queer community has really opened his eyes and has made the fight for equality that much more personal for him. Politics has always been his first love, Kal even plans to run for city council when he feels the time is right. He is honored to be the grand marshal this year with Mid- South Pride and hopes everyone has a safe and awesome festival. Go Grizz!
